Logicenters recently completed its modern cross-dock facility in Greve, just outside Copenhagen. It will now work together with tenant Bring in Denmark to install a 1,950 m² solar cell plant on the roof of the facility. It is estimated that the solar cells will generate around 300,000 KWh of power annually.
In early 2019, groundbreaking took place for Logicenters’ modern cross-dock facility at Ventrupparken 4, Greve, outside Copenhagen, and the almost 14,000 m² facility has recently been completed. As a further step in strengthening the property’s environmental profile, Logicenters is now working with the tenant Bring in Denmark to install solar cells on the roof. In total, the solar cells will cover a roof area of 1,950 m² and it is estimated that they will generate around 300,000 KWh of power annually.
“Climate investment is extremely important to us and we always strive to be at the forefront of developments in sustainability. That is why we are proud to now be installing a large solar cell plant on our property in Greve. Last year, Logicenters joined RE100 through NREP. RE100 is a global coalition committed to 100 % renewable energy. During the same period, energy audits were also conducted at several of Logicenters properties, with the results showing great potential for savings. By streamlining energy consumption at the properties, energy costs could be reduced by up to one third.
“Bring has ambitious environmental goals, working to be fossil-free in all our operations by 2025. Working with Logicenters to install Bring’s largest solar cell plant to date was therefore a natural progression for us. The facility will enable us to use direct solar power for our transport as we are also investing in electric vehicles for our distribution network,” says Jonas Olsson, facility manager at Bring in Denmark.
The solar cells on the building’s roof will have an electrical capacity of 354 KWp. The installation is being carried out by Better Energy and is scheduled for completion by the end of Q3 2020. Earlier this year, construction also began on the Nordic region’s largest rooftop solar cell plant at one of Logicenters’ logistics facilities just outside of Gothenburg, Sweden.
